Vivian Della Atuwo-Ampoh is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Medical Imaging (Radiography), SAHS-UHAS (Ghana). Prior to this appointment, she was a Deputy Chief Radiotherapist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. She is registered with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Ghana and a registered member of the following associations; Ghana Society of Radiographers (GSR), the Ghana Society of Medical Physicists (GSMP), Ghana Association for Radiation Protection (GARP) and Women in Physics Ghana (WiPG).
Education
She holds a Master’s Degree in Medical Physics from the School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences (SNAS), and a first degree in Therapeutic Radiography, both from the University of Ghana. She also holds a Professional Diploma in Project Design and Management of Research from the University of Utah and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Work Experience
Vivian worked as a Radiotherapist for well over fifteen years with the Oncology Directorate of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Her main duties involved the Diagnosis, Simulation and Treatment Planning and delivery of Radiation to Cancer Patients. While with the Department, she was also instrumental in the Clinical Supervision of Students and various forms of Quality Assurance and Research Activities. She also had the opportunity to serve as an executive on Research Review and Ethics Committee within the Oncology Directorate in KATH. Due to her work experience in cancer treatment, she is involved in Cancer Awareness and Educational Activities.
Currently, she teaches Radiation Physics in Medical imaging at the Department of Medical Imaging (Radiography) in the School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana.
Science/Research Interest
Vivian’s areas of research interest includes Dosimetry, Dose optimization both in diagnostic and therapeutic radiography, radiation protection of Patients, Quality of life issues in Cancer Patients. She is also interested in Mammography and Breast Cancer Survival related issues.
